Fashion. Extravagance. Tragedy. Few figures fire the imagination quite like Marie-Antoinette.
The Wallace Collection cares for some of the greatest works of art associated with the ill-fated queen anywhere in the world. In this free lunchtime talk, join Curatorial Assistant Julia Van Zandvoort to consider how the Queen of France used her extraordinary eye for beauty and almost limitless wealth and influence to commission extravagant interiors and artworks of unparalleled refinement.

She was previously Curatorial Intern of German, Dutch and Flemish paintings before 1800 at the Städel in Frankfurt am Main and held fellowships at the Rubenianum in Antwerp and the Dutch Institute for Art History in Florence. She received her PhD from the Courtauld Institute of Art, writing on merchant networks and the tapestry trade between Flanders and Italy in the sixteenth century.
