Why do certain artworks continue to shock and seduce across the centuries? What do they reveal about beauty and power, and why do some artists become lightning rods for controversy?
Join acclaimed art critic and broadcaster Waldemar Januszczak in conversation with our director, Dr Xavier Bray, for an unflinching and spirited discussion about the enduring pull of provocative art. From the raw sensuality of Caravaggio’s Victorious Cupid to the darker corners of art history explored in Waldemar’s current Sky Arts series, Art’s Most, this evening will explore how transgression and transcendence so often go hand in hand in the visual arts.
Linked with our critically acclaimed Caravaggio’s Cupid exhibition, enjoy this unique opportunity to hear two of the most engaging voices in the art world reflect on what draws us to the beautiful and the dangerous.
About the speakers: Dr Xavier Bray is Director of the Wallace Collection.
