Women Artists in the Wallace Collection
Event details
Dates | Wednesday 21 and Thursday 22 June 2023 |
Times | 18.00–20.00 BST |
Location | Online (Zoom) |
Tutor | Dr Richard Stemp |
While artists Elisabeth-Louise Vigée Le Brun and Rosa Bonheur are becoming better-known today, they are still not as widely discussed as many of their male contemporaries. From painters to miniaturists and sculptors, there are other women artists in the Wallace Collection who are still relatively unheard of today, but who are certainly deserving of recognition.
Over two sessions, we’ll look in detail at all the works made by women in the museum as well as at contextual works from other collections. We’ll discover who these artists were and what they created, helping us to evaluate their contributions to the world of art.
