About our Archives
The Wallace Collection archives hold records relating to the founders of the collection and the history of the museum from its foundation in 1897. The National Archives holds some of Wallace Collection institutional records and the archive is also listed on the Archives Hub database.
We are still in the process of cataloguing our archives and currently have the following catalogued:
- Herbert Bier, art dealer: papers, 1912 – 1997
- Samuel Rush Meyrick, arms and armour collector and scholar: papers, 17thcentury – 1884
- Sir Francis Watson, former director of the Wallace Collection: papers, 1932 – 1996.
- Hertford and Wallace family, art collectors: papers, c1790-20th century
Details of further cataloguing progress will be made available in due course.
