Current Vacancies:

Riesener Project Coordinator
Closing date: 3 September 2018

The Riesener Research Project investigates the work of Jean-Henri Riesener (1734-1806), one of the most celebrated cabinet-makers of the eighteenth century. As accredited supplier to the French Court, his workshop delivered more than 700 pieces of furniture to the royal Garde-Meuble alone over the course of ten years. Exquisitely designed and ingeniously constructed, his creations were at the height of fashion during the late Ancien RĂ©gime and furnished many royal and aristocratic houses. He was particularly favoured by Queen Marie Antoinette. The Riesener Project is a collaboration between The Wallace Collection, the Royal Collection Trust and Waddesdon Manor and it is intended that it will culminate in a print publication, a digital outcome and an exhibition at The Wallace Collection in 2020.

The Wallace Collection has obtained a Leverhulme Trust Research Project Grant to support this exciting project. A Project Coordinator is required to assist with the analysis and interpretation of the object-based scientific and technical findings and to help the small team bring the investigative work from the three collections together. This post will provide an excellent opportunity for an early-stage researcher to work with an outstanding collection of objects.
