The Wallace Collection is committed to helping people in their careers. It offers from time to time a limited number of voluntary internships.
This page deals with Curatorial Department Internships only; all other internships should be addressed to the relevant Department. If you are unsure of whom to contact, please write to the HR Manager.
From time to time the Curatorial Department offers short-term Research Internships which are linked to the Collection’s research priorities (for both the permanent Collection and temporary exhibitions). Applicants should have previous experience in researching primary sources and be in full-time education, most likely at postgraduate level, to qualify for these internships. Research Internships are advertised on this webpage when they arise.
There are currently no research internships available.
Interns will be placed in the Curatorial Department but will work with other staff as appropriate. Successful applicants will undergo a standard security check prior to coming to the Wallace Collection. Internships are voluntary. We will provide interns who are at the Wallace Collection for more than half of each week with a zones 1-3 travel card. We are not able to provide further practical assistance such as finding accommodation. Curatorial Department internships will not normally exceed two months in length.
How to apply
Advertisements for Research Internships will be placed on the Wallace Collection’s website. Applications for internships will only be acknowledged when they are in response to an advertised position. The specific qualifications and experience required may differ for each research intern and the application procedure will be set out clearly in the advertisement. It will include sending your Curriculum Vitae and a covering letter explaining your interest in the research project and stating your reasons for wishing to become an intern at the Wallace Collection.
In addition to the research internships described above, the Curatorial Department has some professional work internships set up with other institutions.
Due to the volume of requests we receive for curatorial experience there may be a delay in contacting you; if you have not heard from us and no longer wish to be considered for an internship please contact us immediately.
