Secondary School Programme

Continuity and Change: Propaganda and Portraits through the Ages

Maximum 30 students. Students will work with an historian to explore the use of propaganda in portraits, learn how to decode images and make connections over time. They will compare portraits in our collection with images of 20th-century and modern political leaders to discover what has and has not changed.

  • Learning from primary sources and weighing up the evidence
  • Discussion and questioning to develop perspective and judgement
  • Thinking critically and sifting arguments
