She sighed and her shoulders slumped as the sounds of the brutal murder echoed behind us.

“Did it have to be this way?” my beloved sister asked, her voice shaking and almost inaudible.

“Of course, I wouldn’t have wanted that beast anywhere near you, Chloe,” I tried my best to sound careless as I flicked a claw of my blood stained dress.

“But love is powerful, surely the lion would not have hurt anyone as long as you were with him,” she inquired, the curiosity barely concealed in her tone.


“That creature was no capable of love,” I snapped, the venom pouring into my tone, “taming the beast was a mere victory for our father and besides, it is better dead, foolish animal.”
