The Wallace Collection is renowned for its collection of eighteenth-century French furniture, mainly acquired by the 3rd and 4th Marquesses of Hertford. This February offers an opportunity to explore a lesser known part of the collection: Sir Richard Wallace's early furniture, much of it dating from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Come and discover the beautiful carved decorations, secret compartments and delicate details of our cabinets, caskets and dressers and explore the nineteenth-century taste for bygone centuries. Every Tuesday in February our Curatorial Assistant, Natalie Zimmer, will open some of these pieces to give you a chance to see details and interiors that are usually not on view. Free but tour numbers are strictly limited to 25 people per tour and will be given on a first come first served basis.
