Rosa Bonheur, who specialised in animal paintings, was one of the most admired and successful French artists of the second half of the nineteenth century. Of the four paintings by her in the Wallace Collection probably the most popular is this portrait of an otter hound named after an ancient Greek goddess, the protector of sailors and fishermen. Please note: a maximum of 25 people can attend tours and talks. Places are allocated on a first come first served basis.
