Margaret Power had an extraordinary life, rising from humble origins in County
Tipperary, Ireland, to become Countess of Blessington and one of the leading literary figures in London, before eventually dying, a bankrupt, in Paris. For two years she lived in Manchester Square, and she knew both the 3rd and the 4th Marquesses of Hertford. Her portrait by Lawrence is one of the artist's finest works.
Talks: 3 and 14 December at 1pm
Free, no need to book. Talks in the galleries are strictly limited to 25 people with places allocated on a first come first served basis.
