French painting around 1700 was in full transformation. During the last years of Louis XIV's reign, a generation of highly innovative artists completely changed its course. While Antoine Watteau is still famous for his innovation, his contemporary Jean Raoux is all but forgotten. 'A Lady at her Mirror' is a perfect starting point for exploring the work of this gifted but little known artist.
