Fridays 27 April - 6 July (excluding 8 June) 11am-1.30pm Led by art historian Hilary Williams this ten-week course will examine the art and culture of one of the world's greatest periods of creativity. Through a combination of lectures and gallery talks students will learn about the founding of the Dutch Republic and how art came to occupy an important place in the lives of its people. Individual weeks will be spent exploring painting genres like landscape, still life, and portraiture through the work of artists such as Rembrandt, de Hooch and Frans Hals.
